About Aedes

The American answer to Kitchen Warfare.

FOUNDING STORY

Kitchen Warfare

“They have 3-D printers in the kitchen, and they produce parts for drones. This is not innovation.”

— Armin Papperger, CEO, Rheinmetall

When Germany's largest defense contractor dismissed Ukrainian housewives building drones in their kitchens, he inadvertently named the most important defense innovation of our time. The Aedes Network was built on the same premise — applied to America.

Our Mission

Drone manufacturing capacity already exists across the United States. FPV builders, electronics assemblers, composite fabricators, and UAV technicians have the tools and the talent — but no organized pathway to put them to work at scale.

The Aedes Network is building the infrastructure layer that changes that. We combine software-defined coordination, standardized UAV design distribution, centralized quality validation, and aligned ownership incentives to create a drone manufacturing network that is faster, more resilient, and more effective than anything the current industrial model can produce.

Why Now

Three forces are converging:

  • Supply chain fragility is forcing rethinking of concentrated UAV manufacturing dependencies
  • AI-assisted coordination makes it possible to manage distributed production at a scale that was previously impractical
  • Aligned ownership structures now enable distributed networks where builders share directly in the upside they create

The timing is right to build what has not been built: a drone production network that is owned by the people who produce it, aligned around shared incentives, and optimized continuously.

The Name

Aedes is the genus of the mosquito — one of the most effective, adaptive, and distributed organisms on the planet. Small, fast, and capable of operating at massive scale without centralized coordination. It was the right metaphor for a network of independent builders who, together, create outsized output.

The Rheinmetall CEO looked at Ukrainian housewives with 3D printers and saw a cottage industry. He should have seen a mosquito swarm. Aedes is the American mosquito swarm.
